Online Organic Five Spice Blend, 50g Ingredients Brands|Chinese Ingredients

Add a pinch of five spice to your favourite Chinese dishes. Made with organic ingredients, this spice blend transforms stir fries and marinades. Pair it with soy sauce and garlic to marinade duck breasts or skewers of chicken.

Five spice is a staple ingredient in Chinese cooking. It combines the five essential flavours: sweet, sour, spicy, salty and bitter. In Cantonese cuisine, five spice is used to season red meat like duck and lamb.

Mill & Mortar’s five spice blend contains Sri Lankan cinnamon, allspice, ginger and cloves. The subtle anise flavour comes from fennel seeds and star anise. Add a generous pinch to stir fry sauces, dipping sauces and Asian stews.

For a simple marinade, combine five spice with neutral oil and aromatics like garlic and ginger. Leave your meat to sit in the marinade for a few hours before cooking. It will give chicken wings and pork belly that authentic Chinese BBQ flavour.

Store in an airtight container in a dark, dry place.
