New Green Split Peas, 500g Ingredients Brands|Pasta, Rice & Beans

Green split peas have a mild, earthy flavour. Cook them low and slow in hearty soups, stews and casseroles. They break down to a smooth, creamy consistency that’s ideal for dips and purées.

Split peas are used in all kinds of comforting dishes from around the world. You’ll find them in fragrant Indian dahls and Middle Eastern soups. The small peas are also used to make pholourie, a type of spiced fritter from Guyana.

Green split peas cook quicker than other dried pulses and legumes. You can soak them to further reduce their cooking time. Rich in fibre and protein, they’re a nutritious addition to meat-free meals. Pair them with garlic, chilli and spices in vegetarian stews and curries.
