Mix up your ketchup with dried tomatoes, balsamic vinegar and brown sugar. The sugar adds a mellow sweetness, while the vinegar gives your sauce a pleasing tang. Making your ketchup couldn’t be easier – simply simmer the ingredients for 5-10 minutes, adding a splash of water to adjust the texture. Add more balsamic vinegar to give it extra zing and blend the sauce if you prefer a smoother texture. Your ketchup will last for several weeks in the fridge, ready for snacking and fish finger sandwiches.

The Make Your Own Ketchup kit is a great kitchen activity for younger foodies. Try it for yourself or give it as a gift to that friend who puts ketchup on everything!
