This set makes a wonderful gift, ideal as a housewarming present to loved ones (or yourself!) to be ready to go in the new kitchen. It includes a certificate of authenticity.

Why is there a bee on Laguiole knives?

Each knife features a bee or fly decoration on the bolster. This is not only a nod to Laguiole’s heritage, but also strengthens the knife itself.

Some say Napoleon awarded the use of a bee in recognition of Laguiole’s support for the emperor, or for their bravery. However, the stories are disputed and perhaps lost with time…

How do I know I have a genuine Laguiole knife?

In Laguiole en Aubrac knives, the bee is forged as one piece with the blade on all their cooking knives. Each blade is also hand-engraved at the spring and hand-decorated on the awl and spring plate.

These knives are some of the finest examples of Laguiole artistry.

The origin of the blade must also be authenticated. Laguiole en Aubrac is a registered trademark which proves its origin. The logo and name of the registered brand must also be visible – Laguiole en Aubrac signify this with a bull.

About Laguiole en Aubrac

Laguiole en Aubrac brought the art of knife-making back to Espalion in the 20th century, creating the highest quality, artisanal stainless steel knives. The original Laguiole knife dates back to 1829, when a simple folding knife became the talk of not only the town, but the whole country, loved for its practicality and elegant, intricate design.

Fast forward to the 21st century and Laguiole en Aubrac are lovingly creating knives once again. All knives are individually hardened by hand; shaping and fitting are done by hand to the craftsman’s eye. Each knife is assembled from start to finish in one sequence and by a single craftsman.

All Laguiole en Aubrac knives come with a lifetime guarantee – they’re a name and knife you can trust.
