Fruit Salad Everyday Petty Knife, 9cm Kitchen Knives

Petty knives, or utility knives, are fantastic for everyday food prep. You can use them like a chef’s knife to prepare poultry or chop vegetables. They are small and agile – ideal for fiddly jobs.

Handmade in Japan, this petty knife has an ultra-sharp steel blade. It’s resistant to rust and holds its edge well over time. Use it to mince garlic or chop herbs for a stir fry.

The knife has an octagonal handle made from waste plastic. The plastic is washed, shredded and melted into the handle shape. The vibrant shades of pink, yellow and orange are reminiscent of fruit salad sweets. No two handles are the same, so each knife has its own unique pattern.

Note: The blade has a very thin edge and is not suitable to cut through bones or frozen food. Please store in appropriate knife storage, like blocks, knife rolls or or knife rails.

Please note that as each knife is handmade with waste plastic, minor variations and markings in the handles are expected.

After working in a professional kitchen and seeing how much plastic waste there is, Hugo thought to combine it with notoriously high quality Japanese blades. After a lot of searching and translated zoom calls, he started a collaboration with one of the best knife makers in Japan, Yoshikazu. Hugo’s first knife drop was a small batch of 100 knives was announced on Instagram in March 2021, and all sold out in just over 1 minute.
