These small red envelopes are a gift giving tradition from China. Known as hongbao, they are used to give money as a gift for Lunar New Year. They are also given at celebratory occasions like weddings, birthdays and graduations.

The envelope’s deep red colour is symbolic of good luck. The envelopes are typically given to younger family members by older relatives. They are a much-loved part of the Lunar New year festivities, representing a prosperous year ahead.

Embrace this Chinese cultural tradition and give red envelopes to family and friends. They’re a great way to give money or gift vouchers for their favourite shops. You could even spoil someone with a Sous Chef gift card.

Each envelope features a unique traditional design.
